At Howell's Exotic Farm, our journey began with a simple goal—land maintenance. We started with a small herd of goats and a few donkeys to help clear and maintain our property. What began as a practical solution quickly grew into a deep passion for farming, animals, and sustainable agriculture.
Over time, our farm evolved into a fully operational, family-run farm, now home to over 100 animals. Every day, we dedicate ourselves to their care, ensuring they are raised with respect, love, and the best quality of life possible.
We take pride in the hard work, dedication, and heart that goes into running our farm. Whether you’re here to learn about our journey, support local agriculture, or simply experience farm life, we’re grateful to share our story with you.
Thank you for being a part of our farm family!
Chip – Born and raised on the same property that became Howell’s Exotic Farm, I’ve spent a lifetime working the land and caring for animals. From farm hand to retired heavy truck and large tractor mechanic, and even a stint as an insurance adjuster, I’ve worn many hats. Now, I’m back where it all began, dedicating my time to the farm and the animals that make it home.
Russanne – Born and raised on the same land that is now Howell’s Exotic Farm, I have gradually expanded the property by acquiring land from relatives and neighbors. With a background in commercial insurance underwriting, I have spent over 20 years owning and operating Howell & Associates Insurance Agency as a Farmers Insurance agent. While insurance is my profession, the farm is my passion—preserving its history and growing its future.
Lou – Son of Russanne and Chip, born into the heart of Howell’s Exotic Farm. My job? Keeping the peace and coming up with all the great ideas—whether they’re brilliant or just entertaining. Growing up on the farm has given me a deep appreciation for the land, the animals, and the hard work that keeps it all running.
Caroline – Daughter of Lou and Lizzie, and a proud part of Howell’s Exotic Farm. Currently a high school student, I help out by bottle-feeding the younger animals, creating marketing materials, and editing photos to showcase the farm’s beauty. Growing up here has given me a love for animals and a creative eye for sharing our story.
Monroe – Son of Lou and Lizzie, and the unstoppable force of Howell’s Exotic Farm. A true Energizer Bunny, I keep going no matter what—whether the water’s 12 inches deep or it’s 110 degrees outside. I run like a John Deere and never quit, earning me the title of Ranch Manager. There’s always work to be done, and I’m always ready to do it!
